CAPAL WLP Session 4: Coalition Building- July 16
The fourth Washington Leadership Program session will be Coalition Building held on Wednesday, July 16, at the Capitol Visitor Center, Room HVC-215, 6PMThis session will highlight coalition building as AAPI leaders in their respective roles in the private sector, the Federal Government, an NGO, the Hill, or in the community. We will hear stories of effective coalition building within the AAPI community and beyond our community.

5th Annual AAPI Career Fair on July 18

CAPAL is pleased to bring back our annual AAPI Career Fair this summer! The fair is a unique opportunity to connect AAPI students and young professionals to top employers in the Washington, DC area. 
The career fair will be on Friday, July 18, 11AM-2PM at the National Education Assocation (NEA), 1201 16th St. NW (use M St entrance), Robert H. Chanin Auditorium, Side A. The fair is free and open to the public. 
A broad range of federal and local government agencies and nonprofit employers attend each year. Come learn about career opportunities at these organizations. Remember to bring your résumé and business cards. See you there!

CAPAL and WHIAAPI: AAPI Leadership Roundtable with Kana Enomoto - July 24

CAPAL and the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (WHIAAPI) have partnered to bring you the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Leadership Roundtable Series. Join AAPI public service leaders each month in Washington, DC for an informal discussion on their personal paths to success as well as various hot topics in the AAPI community, including mental health, economic growth, civil rights, civic engagement, and AAPI leadership development. The next roundtable will be on July 24th from 12:30-1:30PM at theNational Education Association and will feature Kana Enomoto, Principal Deputy Administrator for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
  
Ms.Enomoto was appointed in August 2011 as the Principal Deputy Administrator for SAMHSA, at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In this capacity, Ms. Enomoto serves as the principal advisor to the Administrator on policies and programmatic activities for an agency with more than 600 employees and a fiscal year budget of approximately $3.5 billion. She also manages SAMHSA’s budget, operational, and programmatic portfolios.  Ms. Enomoto brings 24 years of experience in the behavioral health field, 16 of which have been in federal service at SAMHSA.  Prior to her appointment as Principal Deputy Administrator, Ms. Enomoto served as the first Director of SAMHSA’s new Office of Policy, Planning, and Innovation (OPPI), where she developed, coordinated, and communicated SAMHSA policies and directions across the full spectrum of mental health and substance abuse issues.

Demystifying the CIA Panel Discussion and Networking Event on July 22
Taiwanese Asian Professionals DC  (TAP-DC), the Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership (CAPAL), AscendDC APA Film, the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP), and the Centeral Intelligence Agency (CIA) presents "Demystifying the CIA" panel discussion and networking event. The event will feature a panel of Asian American CIA community outreach and recruiting officers on July 22, 6-9PM at Cafe Asia in Rosslyn.
