Peabody Essex博物館 慶農曆新年 2/1 入場免費

麻州郊區塞冷鎮(Salem)的琵琶地博物館(Peabody Essex Museum (PEM))為慶祝農曆新年,將於二月一日(週六)早上十點起至下午四點,免費開放。
這場為慶祝馬年新春舉辦的免費入場開放日活動,安排有傳統的舞獅,電影放映,傳統手工藝等等。
            慶祝活動從早上十點開始,該館歡迎民眾自行製作獅子頭,用紅包袋做燈籠。十點半,由六到九歲的小朋友表演舞獅。十一點到十一點半,巾幗醒獅團將率隊舞獅,採青獻桔。十一點半,青少年揚琴古箏樂團在Morse禮堂表演。十二點在東印度海事廳演出霹靂舞,下午一點有中華民俗藝術工作坊演出傳統中國舞,下午二點十五分由李馬丁示範劍舞。下午一到三點有魚絲茶竹展示,下午三點在摩斯(Morse )禮堂放映1938年拍成,長48分鐘的“雀斑米(Freckled Rice)”影片。該片由Steven C. Ning執導,描述在甘乃迪年代時,以波士頓華埠內一名十三歲男孩蘇喬(Joe Soo),長大成人,面對起他的華裔美人身份的又喜又悲故事。

SALEM, MA — Join the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) on Saturday, February 1 to celebrate the Lunar New Year and mark the beginning of the Year of the Horse. Enjoy a full day of festivities including  traditional lion dances, a film set in Boston's Chinatown, sword play, traditional crafts and more!

Be inspired to create your own lion head mask after watching one of the dances.
Red Envelope Lanterns
Create Space
Red envelopes, given away at the Chinese New Year and other celebrations, are traditionally filled with money to ensure good luck in the year to come. Use them to create a symbolic red lantern to take home.

The Cubs, dancers ages 6 to 9, demonstrate the strength, skill and coordination required to perform the lion dance.

Gund Kwok Asian Women's Lion Dance Troupe performs this traditional dance to ward off evil for the coming year. After the show, talk to the performers and see their costumes up close.

This beautiful and bittersweet look at Boston's Chinatown during the Kennedy years centers on Joe Soo, a 13-year-old boy coming to terms with his Chinese-American identity. 1938. 48 minutes. Directed by Steven C. Ning. In English and Cantonese with English subtitles.

ABOUT THE PEABODY ESSEX MUSEUM
Founded in 1799, the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) presents outstanding works of artistic and cultural creativity in ways that transform people's lives.
