https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2iFKTDZjj8

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykHQLOdDglE

3. 真主上帝造天地 new hymnal no. 5

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOouPp9-HqU

1.  真主上帝造天地,  會光會暗無人會;

2.  上帝慈心著敬服,  保庇眾人賜福祿;

3.  主的功勞大無比,  拯救靈魂攏免死;

Our Lord God made earth and sky, Light and darkness, low and high.

Time and space were made to move. All began from mercy and love.

For God’s blessings we return thanks for things we couldn’t earn.

All we eat and use and wear, testify to heaven’s care.

God’s salvation pow’r is true, there is nothing we can do.

Under heaven large and small, turn to God for God is all.

This hymn is one of the oldest indigenous hymn of Taiwan. It was sung by the Missionary Mackay at one of the earliest baptism in Northern Taiwan. The tune follows Pin Pu indigenous tribe style.

(kián) 內有隱藏應允,小蝴蝶會得自由;

烏暗中會顯出黎明,帶向 (ǹg) hō͘ kah 我;
Tùi

(giâu) 疑中欲生出信仰,咱性命永遠無盡;

IN THE BULB THERE IS A FLOWER

1  In the bulb there is a flower;
in the seed, an apple tree;
in cocoons, a hidden promise:
butterflies will soon be free!
In the cold and snow of winter
there's a spring that waits to be,
unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.

2  There's a song in every silence,
seeking word and melody;
there's a dawn in every darkness
bringing hope to you and me.
From the past will come the future;
what it holds, a mystery,
unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.

3  In our end is our beginning;
in our time, infinity;
in our doubt there is believing;
in our life, eternity.
In our death, a resurrection;
at the last, a victory,
unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.

MY FINAL RESTING PLACE /Dr. George Leslie MacKay

How dear is Formosa to my heart! On that island the best of my years have been spent.

How dear is Formosa to my heart! A lifetime of joy is centered here.

I love to look up to its lofty peaks, down into its yawning chasms, and away out on its surging seas.

How willing I am to gaze upon these forever!

My heart's ties to Taiwan cannot be severed!
To that island I devote my life.

My heart's ties to Taiwan cannot be severed!
There I find my joy.

I should like to find a final resting place within sound of its surf,

And under the shade of its waving bamboo.

For This Our Nation, We Ardently Pray

For this our nation, we ardently pray.

Come, Holy Spirit, to enlighten our way.

For Taiwan’s people, we humbly implore,

fill us with Christian love to our very core.

O Almighty Father, your kingdom come here,

that sickness and poverty we may nevermore fear.

Our Father in Heaven, may your will be done.

May justice and righteousness shine as bright as the sun.

The Creator Dwells Above

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ascjeN423Sc

The Creator Dwells Above Poan To-eng 1936 Taiwan Tr. DBA 2011

The creator dwells above, rules the cosmos all in love.

Human hist’ry ebbs and flows, human life both comes and goes.

Generations quickly pass, only what’s from God will last.

Nations rise and kingdoms fall. The creator watches all.

Worldly riches, earthly fame, disappear in wind and flame.

The creator yet remains; glory to the Holy Name.

Christ has given knowledge sure. Holy Spirit makes us pure.

Now present we these our gifts, each a pair of hands uplifts;

to the One who knows us well, safe beneath whose wings we dwell.

HERE I AM, LORD

I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry.

All who dwell in dark and sin, My hand will save.

I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright

Who will bear my light to them?  Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord?

I have heard you calling in the night.

I will go Lord, if you lead me.

I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people's pain.

I have wept for love of them, They turn away

I will break their hearts of stone, Fill their hearts with love alone

I will speak my word to them.  Whom shall I send?

Regards,

We are pleased to share with you that in collaboration with Berklee College of Music, William James College, Harvard Taiwanese Student Association, and Harvard World Music Ensemble, Cafe Philo @ Boston is bringing you a Pangcah / 'Amis songwriter, actor, and media personality Ado Kaliting Pacidal to Boston as a part of a series of activities showcasing contemporary Taiwanese culture.

During the last twenty years, Taiwanese indigenous songwriters and directors have created a vibrant scene that in its popular cultural gloss and engagement with issues facing Taiwanese indigenous communities, performs important work, increasing the visibility of Taiwanese indigenous people on Taiwan and broadcasting a new image of Taiwan to the world. One of the major figures in these contemporary cultural movements on Taiwan is Ado Kaliting Pacidal. A media personality with a long running series of shows on TITV, a songwriter with two full length albums, and an award winning actress, Ado has a perspective on Taiwan's indigenous cultural scene that crosses media and generations.  Recently, she starred in Lekal Sumi's feature length film, "Wawa no Cidal," which has been a favorite on the festival circuit.  Ado’s visit to Boston include a showing of this film on land, language, and cultural identity on Taiwan in the series of events beginning 9th February, 2017.

Specifically, Cafe Philo @ Boston is co-hosting Ado’s Saturday event with Harvard Taiwanese Student Association, and Harvard World Music Ensemble on February 11th at Harvard University at 3pm. In this event, Ado plans to share her music with the audience by playing songs she wrote and discussing how her work as an activist and a contemporary songwriter aims to revitalize rather than mere preservation. The event will be fun and interactive as Ado also plans to engage with the audience through her music and dance.

Ado's visit will be a very rare visit by a Taiwanese media personality to Boston and quite likely the only visit of a Taiwanese indigenous performer and songwriter to Boston during the last five years. Ado's visit will introduce the general public to a relatively unknown side of Taiwanese life, show how the stories of Makota'ay connect to a global audience, and create new possibilities for collaboration between the US and Taiwan.

As a co-host of Ado’s visit, Cafe Philo @ Boston is committed to help raise funds to support Ado’s international travel expenses. Currently, Ado is $1700 short, but we have full faith that community members will come through to support cultural events in solidarity. We ask that you please offer any amount that you are comfortable with. You may paypal your support for Ado’s international travel via our paypal account here , adding “Wawa No Cidal” (or “太陽的孩子”) in the “special instructions” section to support Ado’s visit.

Cafe Philo @ Boston will share further details of the series of events in a week or two. Stay tuned and we hope to see you joining us.
