MAYOR WALSH ANNOUNCES PARTNERS FORBOSTON.GOV REDESIGN PROJECT
BOSTON - Wednesday, September 23, 2015 - Mayor Martin J. Walsh today announced partnerships with Boston-based Acquia, a leading local technology provider, and IDEO, an award-winning global design firm, to collaborate on the redesign of Boston.gov. The redesign will be led by the City of Boston's Digital Team.

"Acquia and IDEO are widely recognized leaders in innovation, web-design, and technology, and through this partnership the City of Boston will be well-equipped to build an online platform that is welcoming and inviting for Boston residents and visitors," said Mayor Walsh. "We're looking to set high standards for quality customer service through our redesign and create positive experiences for all of those who visit our site."

Acquia, located at 53 State Street, provides the leading cloud platform for building, delivering, and optimizing digital experiences using Drupal and agile development methods. Global organizations use the massively scalable and highly secure Acquia Platform to unify digital content and community.

IDEO, located at 485 Massachusetts Ave., has been ranked by Fast Company as one of the world's most innovative companies. They take a human-centered, design-based approach to helping organizations in the public and private sectors innovate and grow.

The firms will work in partnership with the City of Boston to plan, design, and develop the new Boston.gov website. The user-centered redesign will involve input from members of the Boston community to make information and services more accessible for the City's diverse range of users, and will employ an iterative development methodology to incorporate user feedback throughout the process. The selection process was carried out by a team of stakeholders from various city agencies. Acquia and IDEO ultimately won the City's support with their extensive experience and innovative approach to the redesign. Members of the Boston community will be able to follow the progress of the redesign by visiting Next.Boston.gov.
