DORCHESTER, Mass. – At 10 a.m. on Saturday June 27, the New American Integration Program (NAIP) will hold a resource fair to bring together 17 organizations that offer immigrants and refugees free and low-cost community resources, including free citizenship application assistance, sponsored by the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy (MIRA) Coalition and Project Citizenship.
The resources presented will be diverse, including English and civics courses, health care options, job training, small business counseling, family location efforts, and financial services. There will be organizations that cater specifically to Haitian, Brazilian, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Latina immigrants, as well as broadly reaching groups providing services to all immigrants in the Boston-metro area. Each organization will provide information about the work they do as well as provide resources for attendees.
Additionally, attendees can sign up for an appointment between 11am and 1p.m. to receive free legal assistance with the naturalization application. Lawyers and specially trained volunteers, who speak English, Portuguese, and Spanish, among other languages, will work one-on-on through the extensive applications. Low-income applicants will also be able to receive assistance with applying for a fee waiver for the government’s application fee.

International Institute of Boston (English and citizenship classes, small business support), Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center (English and citizenship classes, financial services, family counseling),SCORE Association (small business counseling), American Red Cross (family location services), Haitian Multi Service Center (English classes, job training, HiSET), Irish International Immigrant Center (English classes), Jewish Family Service of MetroWest (citizenship applications, resettlement services), Jewish Vocational Service (English and citizenship classes, employment services and training), Health Care for All (health education and enrollment), VietAID (early childhood education, after-school youth program), Brazilian Worker Center (workers’ rights training, Safe Driving Bill, housing discrimination), JVS Bridges to College(English classes and college preparation), Catholic Charities/HMSC (English classes and job training), MIRA Coalition (citizenship applications, referrals to community resources, policy), Mujeres Unidas Avanzando (ESL classes, HiSet in Spanish, computer classes)
NAIP is an AmeriCorps program created in collaboration with the Massachusetts Office for Refugees and Immigrants (ORI), Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy (MIRA) Coalition, and English for New Bostonians (ENB). Our corps of 26 work at 21 different organizations across Massachusetts to assist immigrants and refugees to gain economic stability and more fully participate in our society.
