Evan Falchuk, Chairman of the United Independent Party and former candidate for Governor has long disagreed with Boston's Olympic bid, citing its proposal as misguided and yet another sign that our political leaders are out of touch with the real needs and priorities of voters.

A statement from Evan, as Chairman of the Party is below:

"A connected group - without public input - is trying to make big money by committing the people of Massachusetts to a huge project.  At a time of such need for funding for schools, veterans services and other priorities, all of our newly sworn-in leaders must stand against this effort to divert the public interest for private gain."

Statement by Mayor Martin J. Walsh on the
 USOC Decision

"It is an exceptional honor for Boston to be chosen as the U.S.representative in the running for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This selection is in recognition of our city's talent, diversity and global leadership. Our goal is to host an Olympic and Paralympic Games that are innovative, walkable and hospitable to all. Boston hopes to welcome the world's greatest athletes to one of the world's great cities."

Governor Baker Statement on USOC Decision

BOSTON -- Governor Charlie Baker released the following statement in response to the U.S. Olympic Committee's decision to select Boston as the U.S. bid for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games:

"This is great news for Boston and the Commonwealth as it provides an exciting opportunity to promote Massachusetts on the world stage.  I look forward to working with Mayor Walsh and the Boston 2024 organization to address the multitude of issues that need to be discussed, including keeping costs down and continuing to press forward on pledges of a  privately funded Olympics as the process moves forward before the IOC."
