It’s back-to-school time in Boston!
Students in grades 1-12 return tomorrow; Kindergarten begins Monday, September 8

BOSTON – Mayor Martin J. Walsh, members of the Boston School Committee, Interim Superintendent John McDonough and a team of talented teachers, school leaders and staff are ready to welcome students back to school Thursday.

“Boston is home to the most dedicated, engaged and talented students and families in the nation and we are looking forward to serving them well this year,” McDonough said. “We are thrilled to open the doors of all 128 schools and support our students by offering a world-class education for every child. Every child deserves a great teacher in every classroom and a great school leader in every school, and this is what they can expect this year in the Boston Public Schools.”

Update on transportation service

More than 650 school buses will hit the road on Thursday. Every route has a driver assigned and drivers have been practicing their routes. The bus drivers’ union and Transdev, our service provider, have demonstrated clear progress toward delivering on-time, reliable service since the unacceptable interruption early last week. BPS is continuing to monitor the situation closely.

Although we strive for on-time service every day, families may experience some delays during the first few days of school as students and parents get used to the new routes and stops. Parents can check the status of their school bus by calling our Transportation Hotline at (617) 635-9520 or by checking the location online at schoolbus.bostonpublicschools.org.
